Add an introduction to a voice memory

Record a short spoken intro that plays first — so anyone listening to your Rootkin™ memory knows who's talking and what it is, even years from now.

Walkthrough

  1. Open any voice memory and tap ✨ Add an introduction.
  2. Record a short intro — for example, "This is Grandma Helen, telling how she met Grandpa in 1962." Keep it brief; it stops on its own after about 45 seconds.
  3. Listen back. Keep it, or tap to re-record.
  4. Save. From now on the introduction plays first, then the memory — in the app, in a shared link, and in a slideshow.
  5. You can change or remove the introduction any time. Adding one never touches the original recording.
Add it whenever you like. Introductions aren't part of the original recording, so you can add one to a memory you recorded today or one from years ago. They're especially helpful when you share a memory with someone outside your family.
