Notifications and reminders

Rootkin™ nudges you about upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, and new activity in the tree. Mobile only — you control which.

Walkthrough

  1. Open Settings → Notifications.
  2. Toggle each notification type on or off:
    • Upcoming birthdays — a quiet reminder the day before, and the morning of.
    • Upcoming anniversaries — same shape as birthdays, for wedding anniversaries Rootkin knows about.
    • Activity digest — a once-a-day roll-up if anyone has added memories, photos, or people while you were away.
  3. The first time you toggle any of these on, your phone asks for notification permission. Say yes. (If you say no by accident, you'll need to allow Rootkin notifications from your phone's system Settings.)
  4. Notifications are mobile only — the web app doesn't push notifications today.

Memory prompts & campaigns

Rootkin occasionally suggests a memory worth recording — a Memory of the Month, a seasonal prompt, or a nudge tied to a loved one's upcoming birthday. These appear as a card on your Home screen and, if you've allowed them, as a gentle notification. You'll see at most a couple of campaign prompts a month.

Manage these under Settings → Notifications → Memory prompts & campaigns: turn push prompts on or off, choose whether to receive them by email, and opt in to heritage-month themes (such as Hispanic Heritage Month or Lunar New Year).
